Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 5, 2026

FortMose.com (the "site") presents the history of Fort Mose (Gracia Real de Santa Teresa de Mose), the first legally sanctioned community of freed slaves in what is now the United States. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the site or contact us, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it simple and honest: this is a small informational website, and we collect very little.

1. What we collect

We collect only the information you choose to give us, plus basic technical data handled by our web server:

  • Inquiries. If you email us about the site or its content, we keep what you tell us (your name, email address, and the details of your question) so we can respond.
  • Technical data. Our web server automatically records standard access-log information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. This is used to keep the site secure and to understand general traffic.

2. Cookies

The site does not use cookies. We do not run advertising or analytics tracking, and we do not set our own tracking cookies.

3. How we use your information

  • To respond to your questions about the site or its content;
  • To administer and secure the website.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who run the site on our behalf — currently our web hosting provider — and only to the extent needed to operate the site. We may also disclose information if required by law or in connection with legal proceedings.

5. International transfers

The site is hosted in the United States. If you visit from elsewhere, your information may be transferred to, and processed in, the United States.

6. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you give us. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Access and correction. You may ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it.
  • Deletion. You may ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you.

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the GDPR, including the rights of access, rectification, erasure, and restriction. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below.

8. Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent change.

10. Contact

If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your information, email [email protected].
